Strong Families. Strong Communities. Strong Future.
Building a St. Johns County where every generation can thrive.

Tim Burres

Background

Tim Burres is a 54-year resident of St. Johns County with deep roots in District 2. For more than three decades, he has watched the community grow and evolve from rural landscapes into one of Florida’s most desirable places to live. That experience has given Tim a unique perspective on the importance of balancing responsible growth with preserving the character, history, and family-centered values that make St. Johns County special.

Tim and his wife, Jennifer, have built their life in this community, raising three children and enjoying the role of grandparents to two grandchildren. Their family has a personal connection to District 2 schools, with their children and grandchildren attending and currently attending local schools.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Flagler College, providing him with a strong foundation in leadership, governance, and effective decision-making.

Passion

Tim is passionate about protecting the quality of life that makes St. Johns County a special place to call home. He believes strong communities are built by supporting families, investing in safe neighborhoods, respecting local traditions, and planning responsibly for the future.

A man of faith, Tim is committed to supporting those who serve others—including first responders, military veterans, educators, and community organizations. He believes leadership starts with listening, bringing people together, and finding practical solutions that benefit residents.

Service

Tim is a United States Army veteran and retired law enforcement Captain with 25 years of service with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. During his career, he rose from patrol deputy to Captain, ultimately commanding the South Region of the county and overseeing operations, personnel, and community engagement efforts.

His experience leading teams, managing complex challenges, and working directly with residents has shaped his approach to public service: integrity, accountability, transparency, and results.

Tim continues to serve the community as a Board Member of the Salvation Army and as State Trustee for St. Johns County Lodge Lodge 113  Fraternal Order of Police.

With decades of leadership and service, Tim Burres is committed to providing honest, ethical, and transparent leadership for the future of St. Johns County.

Leadership built on service

St. Johns County doesn't need politics—it needs leadership.

For more than 25 years, I've led during times of challenge, made difficult decisions, and served our community with integrity, accountability, and a commitment to doing what's right. As an Army veteran, retired Sheriff's Captain, husband, father, and grandfather, I've learned that leadership isn't about titles or campaign promises. It's about showing up, making sound decisions, and putting people first.

Our county is growing rapidly, bringing new opportunities and new challenges. We need a leader who will protect our quality of life, keep our communities safe, preserve our history and natural resources, and make thoughtful decisions that benefit today's families and future generations.

As your County Commissioner, I'll listen to residents, work with our community, and make decisions based on facts—not politics or special interests. Every vote I cast will be guided by one question: What's best for the people of St. Johns County?

Together, we can preserve what makes our county special while preparing responsibly for the future.

I'm ready to serve. I'm ready to lead.  I would be honored to have your support on August 18th, 2026.
